Keep Pinellas Cities Beautiful, Inc. (KPCsB) was originally founded by Mayor Fred Held of South Pasadena, FL, chartered in 1992 as Keep South Pinellas Beautiful, Inc. (KSPB). The organization became a certified affiliate of Keep America Beautiful (KAB), Inc. and Keep Florida Beautiful (KFB), Inc. the first year.

This all-volunteer organization struggled during its first four years, or so, actively participating in the Great Florida Cleanup (Spring-promoted by KFB) and the Florida Coastal Cleanup (Fall promoted by Center for Marine Conservation, now known as The Ocean Conservancy). Officers and Directors conducted several other small litter and beautification programs within their communities.

A part-time volunteer KAB Certified Executive Director was added to the organization in the fall of 1997. By year's end, the organization had obtained its 501 (c) (3) IRS status, obtained Liability Insurance, received its first grant from the State, and began to actively pursue volunteer programs addressing urban litter and marine debris.

As the organization actively continued to grow with volunteer urban litter and marine debris removal activities in the community, its name was changed from Keep South Pinellas Beautiful to Keep Pinellas Cities Beautiful (January 25, 1999), and changed again to Keep Pinellas Beautiful, Inc. (January 2, 2002) as its volunteer programs reached into the areas of Pinellas County.

Keep Pinellas Beautiful, Inc. is recognized as the leading organization in Pinellas County for management and promotion of volunteer efforts to remove and reduce urban litter and marine debris.

The organization's operating overhead funding comes from Pinellas County, limited grants and Corporate Sponsorships.

The new organizational name was followed by a new logo and a continued growth in membership and volunteer programs through out the County.
